A New Phase?

Ah....the joys of teething, or at least pre-teething. I noticed yesterday that William was very cranky and hot, but I chalked it up to the weather being in the 100s, and our AC broken. He's been fighting a runny nose as well, and this morning John said it might be his gums. Of course! I felt quite bad for the little guy, since I hadn't really recognized the clues. No teeth have popped out yet, but we're watching....and waiting!

Did I hear correctly????

Yes, folks.... I did! He officially said mama!! I was changing his diaper when it happened. He formed his lips into the sound and said my name! I was so excited I did a little dance, which prompted him to say it again and again. He's been saying mama for a long time, but every time he says it it comes out exactly like dada. But now he's got it down! Yippee!

Mother's Day

With my kiddo snuggled in his bed for the night I'm finally able to sit and write a little "memoir" of my first Mother's Day...I vividly remember my first "Mother-To-Be" Day, wearing a bright red maternity dress, standing on the porch steps with a huge belly. 4 months later (to the day!) our son entered the world and I was instantly given the title "Mommy". What an awesome undertaking it has been so far; I wouldn't trade my title in for anything! I'm still trying to be the Proverbs 31 Mom..."She gets up while it is still dark and provides food for her family..." Oh man! I have a long way to go! I'm up while it's still dark, but I'm furiously nursing, trying to get my little one to go back to sleep, so I can get another hour of shut-eye. My days are filled now with trying to keep up with a crawling 8 month old; he keeps me on my toes. I have 2 wonderful Mothers in my life and my hat goes off to both of them for the hard job they completed.
May MY son grow up and call me blessed!

He found his voice!

This past week William has been showing off his "new" set of lungs....making high, ear-piercing shouts for seemingly no reason. He's not upset, not wanting food, but just letting us know he's still here. I was feeding him the other day and John was there watching....when all of a sudden he let a shrill noise out. We both looked at each other and rubbed our ears! This wouldn't normally be such a big deal, but we are getting ready to go North to visit some friends who are expecting their first baby. Now, of all times, would NOT be the time to start an annoying scream. We wanted to see our friends and show off our son behaving like a good little boy, well-disciplined, caring, sharing, etc....instead he'll be just like other little boys his age, screeching away!
