Bili Update

I got a call from A's GI doctor, and yesterday's lab work showed that A's bili count is down to 6.6! I was a little surprised that it wasn't lower than that, since her skin looks so much better, but at least it's still moving in the right direction. I thought that going to the lab would be over, but it looks like we'll have to go again at least one more time. Her count has to be 0/0 before the doctor will let us be free, so to speak.

On another note, I got my first smile from A this morning! William was downstairs, so he didn't witness it with me (not that he would have cared, but still!) but she distinctly looked at me, and after lots and lots of coaxing, gave me a tiny smile. What a wonderful milestone to be able to check off!

I have been remiss in taking pictures...I am so busy over here, and the exhaustion of having a little one up to feed every 2-3 hours is really getting to me. I'll see about getting some posted soon.

Could It Be?

I don't want to jinx anything, so I'm a little scared of actually posting anything about this...but I think fall might be coming (finally!) to our neck of the woods! It was MUCH cooler today than it's been in a long time - 82 degrees out now! Woo hoo! I was so excited by the cooler weather I put jeans on and took my kiddos to the park. Hopefully it will last because double digit weather is wearing me out!

San Diego

When my folks were here we took a day trip to San Diego. It was so hot in our area that spending the day outside in a cooler area sounded like a wonderful relief. The day was beautiful and the kids were awesome.

Family picture at Cabrillo National Monument.

My dad, the multitasker! Abby in one arm and managing chip duty with the other one.

After we toured around we went to The Old Spaghetti Factory, one of our favorite places to eat. William thought the train was pretty neat!

This Is FUN!

Here's William, all ready to go biking with Mom and Dad. My neighbor is absolutely the greatest person on earth, so she took Abby at a moments notice, so the three of us could go for a ride. Once he got the superfluous pads off, he was much happier!

Abby is quite the binky sucker. William hated the thing. She loves it! I can't go anywhere without it. Our kids are cut from the same cloth, but they are so different! She's a spitter, in need of bibs, William never spit up. I don't like putting bibs on, since they cover so much of her clothes, but some outfits have matching bibs. But...I'd rather use a bib than change her clothes 3-4 times a day. That gets boring quickly!

Newest Angel Fan!

I know it was William's birthday and all, but we'd been celebrating his birthday for days, and Mom and Dad needed a date night! Abby is nursing around the clock, so we took her with us. With the Moby wrap she did great! Anyone have any tips for getting that HUGE piece of fabric on with grace and style?

Birthday Pictures

Here are some pictures from 9/11, William's birthday.

Here he is, playing with the "stinky man truck" (garbage truck) that Oma and Opa got him. He also got the animal puzzle and the Cars pjs. The highlight of his day is watching the garbage man pick up the trash. This is one of his favorite toys, now.

Opening his gifts from Aunt Gina and Uncle Andy. (I was a little nervous for him to open these, as gifts from them are NOISY! lol...)

But they were kind to me this year, and got him some cute clothes, water crayons, and a Mr. Potato Head.

He LOVES this toy! I really like the fact that it doesn't make noises for him...he's got to use his imagination and make the noises himself.

William got presents from most of his extended family and friends. Thank you all!!

Abby wasn't quite sure what to make of all the fuss of the gifts...but at least she was happy! (Secretly I think she was looking forward to going to the Angel game with Mom and Dad later in the day! Will post those pictures later.)

Birthday Boy!

Today is William's 2nd birthday. I can hardly believe it. Two years has flown by.
(For the most part.)

To celebrate, yesterday we went to Scooter's Jungle with Oma, William's friend Sophia, and my friend Priscilla, Sophia's mom. Scooter's Jungle is play area with jumpies, inflatable slides, and other things of which I can't think of the name. (You hang on to it, and you fly through the air.)

Anyway....Here are just a few of the many pictures we took.

Here's Priscilla and Sophia, and me and William racing down the slide. It's actually MUCH larger than it looks.

William did NOT like it one little bit. Sophia, on the other hand, LOVED it! (So did I!)

So instead of jumping or going down the slides, William spent his time in the toy area. I give him another year or so, and I'm sure he'll love the slides!

Since William didn't want to go down, Oma took Sophia down. Even Oma liked the slides!

Afterward we went back to our house for a mini party. William refused to blow out his candles, or even eat his Elmo cup cake.

Basically neither kid was very happy about the whole "party"! (William had a good time, he's just boycotting smiles for now.)

William opened his gifts as well, and I'll post those later. (Don't want to overwhelm anyone!)

Meet The Barber

Hello!

I've taken on a new role. Not only am I mommy, chef, chief transportation officer, emergency medic, launderer, maid, educator....I am now a barber. I kinda like my new role. :-)

Here's my boy before I took the scissors to his locks.

Seriously...I was really enjoying myself here!

All finished, and ready for his two year picture! No worries...I'm not taking it!

Sharing

I was putting Abby in her car seat the other day, and walked away for a second. When I looked back at her, William was bending over her doing something. Since she wasn't crying, I figured he couldn't be doing too much harm. When he walked away this is what I found - my little boy decided he wanted to share his zebra with her! Sept. 1

Ummmmm....No.

That's William's favorite expression these days. He actually leads me on, allowing me to be hopeful that he just might do what I've asked him to do. But then....nope. No. No. NO. The favorite words of an almost two year old.

This morning he found John's cell phone, picked up, put it to his ears and said "Hello sweetie." WHAT?!? Where on earth did he pick THAT expression up? John never calls me "sweetie". "Sweetheart", sure, but "sweetie"? Never.

At church the other night, the four of us were in the cry room and I had just finished changing Abigail's diaper. John went over to the trash to throw it away. The trash was almost overflowing, and not wanting to tetter a poopy diaper on the tippy top of it all, he lifted the 2-liter pop bottle and placed the diaper under it. A few minutes later, after the service was finished, I gave the bulletin to William to throw away. He ran to the trash, and instead of just placing the bulletin in the bin, he lifted the 2-liter pop bottle and placed the bulletin under it. It's amazing how he watches everything we do!

My folks are taking a little side vacation up to Yosemite while here, and the other day Mom texted me. My phone makes a little ring sound every time a text comes in, and William knows it's a message. He asked, "Whozit?", and I said it was Oma. The very next thing he said was "What Oma doin'?" I can't believe the conversations I have my 23 month old son!

One last little funny....William loves to help me care for Abby. When I change her diaper I usually pull a step stool up to the table so he can hand me the diaper and wipes. Well, even though Abby is quite the little lady, she's not always the most modest, shall we say, when it comes to keeping the poop/pee in her diaper. When the diaper is off, she feels like she can still pee/poop at her discretion. So the other day when I was changing her this very thing happened, and William's expression and comment was priceless: in a look of utter shock, he said "Abby ..(pause)...poopin'."

Things may be a little crazy at our house with two kids, but things are never dull! :-)

Biking With Opa

My parents got this bike seat as a gift for Abby, but William is using it now until she gets bigger.
He was NOT a fan of the helmet, although he loved riding with Opa. For the record, the seat took my Dad (and Mom) hours to put on, not to mention three trips to the store due to missing parts. The seat is a Bell, and I would NOT recommend it. Huge pain to put on. If we ever get rid of/sell this bike, the seat goes with it!
