A lot of fun things have been going on in the Adams' home.
While William hasn't really learned any new "words" per say, he has been learning his own version of communicating his needs and wants to us. His latest is, "Iz at? Iz at? Iz at?" said in a high-pitched voice, usually no less than three times over. Too cute! He's so curious to know what EVERYTHING is. This is usually accompanied by finger pointing, another new dimention of his communicating.
Our refrigerator is loaded with pictures of family and friends. All day long he'll point up to the pictures, say "Iz at? Iz at? Iz at?" and I'll pick him up, and tell him the names of whoever he's pointing to. We've been going over the names of everyone for a few weeks now, and he's got a few of his favs learned down pat. He immediately knows the location of every "Grandpa Num Num" picture (Grandpa Adams...another post on why he's called that!), his cousin Amanda (I think he really likes her cowboy hat!), and my friend Kristi. It's getting to be a game we play - I'll call out a name, and he'll point to that person. There is one picture of John and me on the fridge...when I call out "Mommy" he never, ever points to me. He'll just look at me with this silly smile and rub his nose in my shoulder. I guess that counts!
Another fun thing he's been doing lately is a lot of pretend play. He watches me cook and bake all the time, and if there's space on the counter I usually let him sit up there with me to help. Lately, while taking his bath, he'll set up various cups and pour water (or nummies as he calls it) into them. Then he'll take his toothbrush and stir it, pour it out, and start all over again. Just recently he's been trying to pick up the water with his fingers, and he'll do a motion like he's sprinkling something on his nummies, then bring it to me to "eat". He insists that his fingers go into my mouth to make sure I get a good taste!! He'll not only pretend to cook while in the tub but also while in the kitchen while I cook. I have a drawer that has utensils and bowls that he can play with, and I recently added an empty mac and cheese box. It's so cute watching him shake the noodles into his bowl and stir it!
Today we did a quick run to the library, and of all things it was raining outside (pretty hard, I might add!). He had his rain coat on, so we walked into the rain, laughing together. He pointed to the sky and asked "Iz at?"
Oh I love this little man!! I'm so thankful I'm able to spend every moment with him...
