And it might be a while longer until he does!
A little less than a week ago William fell on the cement near our house and really scraped his knee. It was his first "real" owie, or boo boo as he preferred to call it, and he made quite the fuss over it. But after the crying was over, he refused to cover it with a band aid, preferring to look at it All. The. Time. I did insist on a band aid with Neosporin for the first couple of house, but after awhile I got sick of him picking at it and took it off.
Needless to say, he quickly learned a new body part - "knee" - and also "boo boo". Anyone and everyone he came in contact with got the pleasure of seeing his scraped up knee. He'd pull his pant leg up for anyone who'd give him the time of day, and say "knee, boo boo." It really was too cute.
But, as all "good things" must come to an end, his knee did heal, as he found out yesterday. We had just pulled into the garage and I went to get him out of his car seat. He quickly pulled up his pant leg to show me his knee, but the wound had healed and the scab had completely fallen off. His expression was priceless! His eyes were wide open, as was his mouth. Then he looked at me, threw his arms WIDE open and said, "Where's it? Where's it?"
My explanation that it had healed, and that it was all gone was quite insufficient for him. He wanted it back. And now.
I assured him that he'd get another one in due time. Just be patient, Son.
