Tooth Issues...At 11 Months

We bought our son a toothbrush (sniff!) tonight. He's got 4 teeth, so I thought a cute little toothbrush was probably in order. (Plus I'd get to get out his cute toothbrush holder that's been under the sink for over a year!)

I've been concerned about his teeth. The tops of his teeth look stained light brown. Does anyone have any ideas of what this is? I usually wipe his teeth with a damp cloth, so it's not like I've been neglecting them...they just look like they're decaying or something.

I called my dentist to get his opinion on the situation, and wouldn't you know it, his entire office is on vacation. I'll put another call in to them next week.

The initial tooth brushing episode didn't go as well as I had planned. I had to literally pin him down on the floor in order to get a few swipes in with the toothbrush. He was all gung-ho with his new toothbrush when we were in Target, picking one out...but once we got home...yeah...not so much fun, that new toothbrush.

I'm hoping in the upcoming week I'll be able to model tooth brushing for him, so maybe he'll like it better. I sure hope so, because the staining on his teeth is worrying me.

I'M THINKING THAT A FEW TIMES OF BRUSHING AND THE EXPERIENCE WILL GET BETTER AND SO WILL THE "STAINED" AREAS ON HIS TEETH....BUT, IS HE GETTING LIQUID VITAMINS? IF SO, THAT MAY BE THE CULPRIT....ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE IRON IN THEM....I CAN JUST PICTURE HIM "BRUSHING HIS TEETH"...=)

LOVE YA,
GRANNY "A"

I just started (literally one night ago!) giving him liquid vitamins. There is no iron in them. Today I mixed the vitamins in with his evening meal, so I could avoid having him spew it all over me. So I don't think the stains are from vitamins...

How cute :) You might wanna try just letting him 'play' with the toothbrush at first and not worry so much about the brushing. He'll chew on it and get used to that strange thing being in his mouth. He's grwoing up so fast! Can't believe it'll be a year soon! I LOVE watching all the vidoes on here. THANKS!! You guys are doing a Great JOB!!!

I'm sure the brushing events will get better! Of course, if he has teeth like his mamma, this is only the beginning of the fun!

We also sure love all the videos!! Keep'em coming!

Love,
mom

So true, Annette!

Perhaps we should all chip in NOW -- start a fund for braces, retainers, headgear, rubberbands, impressions, bite guards (multiple of those, if he's at all like his Aunt Gina!), etc etc...

Between his Mom & Dad's orthodontia history, poor William will undoubtedly need some too!

I've heard of Christmas Club accounts... how about an "Orthodontia Overload" account for William?
